Advocate District School will dance for 40 minutes on April 23!

 

Aldershot Elementary is planning a sock hop at lunchtime for the whole school!

Annapolis East Elementary School will have sock hops throughout the week at noon, a school wide Square Dance on April 22, a Flashmob on April 24 and to celebrate International Dance Day on April 29 , there will be performances by A.E.E.S and Middleton High Dance Clubs, two school wide numbers and a Teacher number!

Bible Hill Central School will have the entire school population in the gym to participate in a 20 minute dance session on April 25!

Brookfield Elementary will be taking part in three different whole school dances in the gym. The grade 6 class will perform a Russian folk dance to finish the afternoon!

The entire Caldwell Road Elementary School will be learning "Big Fish, Little Fish, Cardboard Box" all this month and on Friday, April 26th will come together and do the dance in the gym!

Central Spryfield School will be hosting a school wide dance on Friday April 26th during our lunch break.

Cobequid District School will have a Lunch Time Sock Hop on Friday, April 26th with the Grade 6's being in charge of the music.

Cobequid Old Barns Consolidated Elementary will have an 'Everybody Dance' session, at Valley School, with Marilyn Boyle, former dancer with the Buchta dancers, for students at both schools and their parents on April 23rd in the evening. On April 24th there will be a sock hop for the whole school during recess.  On April 25th there will be Cape Breton Dance session, at Valley Elementary for students and their parents, with Burton MacIntyre during the evening.  On April 26th there will be another recess sock  hop and in the afternoon they will have their annual Dance Festival with dances by classes, including dancing for all sessions, for students and parents.

Hants East Rural High’s leadership gym class will organize dance classes during dance week April 22-29. Choreographies from the classes will be performed in May!

Harmony Heights Elementary School will be doing novelty dances (Chicken Dance, Crazy Frog, Follow da Leader, Superman) as warm-up in physical education classes all week. On Friday, the music will be played and the entire school will perform these dances together for the Dare to Dance Challenge!

Tantallon Senior Elementary will be taking part in dance workshops led by high school studetns from Sir John A who happen to be dance instructors during several Phys. Ed. periods. There is also one large assembly for the enite school and staff on Friday, April 26 where 5 different high school student acts will perform a variety of dance genres. They will then lead the enitire audience in a mass dance session!

Valley Elementary School will be having a 20 minute dance challenge on April 22 and 23. How many times can they do the “Hokey Pokey” one day and the “Bird Dance” the next.  They will have hip hop dance class on the April 22 and a Flashmob on the 23. Also, on the 23rd they will have an event called 'Everybody Dance' for students and parents, with Marilyn Boyle of the former Buchta Dancers, Don Messer's Jubilee. On April 24 they will have a sock up in the gym and their annual Dance Festival where classes perform dances and we have dancing for all during that time. In the evening they have Cape Breton Family Square Dance for students and parents, with Burton MacIntyre.

Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School’s Dance 11 class has decided to have music playing from the PA system and to have everyone come to the gym in a conga line. Once in the gym, the class has created their own routines to different songs to teach to the group to get them involved. They have created posters to put around the school and will be reading an announcement every day next week about National Dance Week and the Dare to Dance Challenge. We will also be playing music at the end of the day next week to dismiss all classes at the end of the day instead of having a bell!
