Interested in becoming a Dance NS Board Member? Like to work on one of our committees?
"A community united in dance".
Want a little excitement in your life? Want to share your expertise and/or knowledge? This is an exciting time for dance and the benefits it brings to all ages. Be part of the incredible dance community that spans our province from north to south and every community in between.
Dance Nova Scotia is always looking for new board members and anyone interested in working on our various committees. Being a part of an organization that shapes the view of dance through the province as well as working to build the strength of dance organizations and institutions can be very rewarding. Having a dance background is a plus but is not necessary. What is important is a love of dance and a desire to build a healthy support network for its survival. You will be surprised at what your support can do to help build the profile of dance in our province.
If you are interested in being a board member, fill out an application form (see link below) and send it in or bring it into the Dance Nova Scotia office, and it will be presented to the board at their next meeting for approval. Applications may be made to the board at any time during the year. For more information contact the Dance Nova Scotia office. The deadline for Board Nominations is Monday, May 31st, 2021. Board members will be voted on at DANS' AGM on June 23rd, 2021. (AGM will be via Zoom).
Besides board positions, you might also consider working on one of our committees. Committee work can be more relaxed and requires less commitment than board positions may. Committee work can be incredibly rewarding for anyone with interest. As we move into a new way of looking at our world due to the vast changes brought about by COVID-19, there is a lot of vision needed to see the future of dance move forward and committee work will be a big part of that innovation and change.,
Committee work here at Dance Nova Scotia includes a broad area of interests:
- Dance for Health (Seniors programs)
- Policy and procedure
- Membership (on hiatus)
- DANSpace (studio on Grafton Street)
For committee work, please fill out the form and scan/send it to the Executive Director (email below) or send it to the Dance NS office: APPLICATION FOR DANS COMMITTEES
Because we encompass all dance in the province, we are happy to welcome dancers from all disciplines and interests.
