Recognized for their intense, fiery and dramatic performances, Flamenco en Rouge is strongly committed to a pure, authentic approach to flamenco, inspired by the Gitano (gypsy) style from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, where several members of the group continue to train annually.
They bring a highly charged performance energy, with dramatic dancing, singing and virtuosic instrumentals, colourful costumes, including mantón (shawl), bata de cola (long dress with flowing train), abanicos (fans) and castañuelas (castagnettes).
The performance will offer audiences a range of palos (styles) from the jondo (deep) emotionality of the Soleá, to the joyful Alegrías, earthy Tangos de Triana, dramatic Tangos Romanceros, Cuban-inspired Guajiras, and spirited Fandangos. Flamenco en Rouge have been performing for the past six years in the Halifax area, and in other provinces, to critical acclaim and sold out events.
