Atlantic Flamenco Festival presents: Virginia Castro Durán

Atlantic Flamenco Festival is pleased to welcome guest flamenco dancer, Virginia Castro Durán from Spain for a one-night-only performance on Thursday, September 27 at Halifax’s iconic Seahorse Tavern.

Prepare to be mesmerized! Virginia, from Cordoba, Spain, enchants audiences around the world with her very special feminine touch combined with stomping feet and coiling wrists.

Virginia is at the forefront of flamenco culture - a perspective she is excited to share with audiences in Halifax. She on stage along with Dennis Duffin & Fernando Gallego Torres.


Virginia began her training at the early age of five in Cordoba, an ancient city in the heart of Andalusia – the birthplace of flamenco. By the age of seven, she was awarded a place at the Cordoba’s Dance Conservatory a 14-year long professional flamenco program offered at Spain’s National Conservatories.

Her dedication to her art led her tparticipate and win two major dance competitions at a young age, as well as to become a finalist on Spanish Television’s popular talent show “Veo Veo”. Since then, Virginia has performed extensively in Spain at festivals and theatres with various companies. 

In 2013 Virginia moved to Toronto with her family and has since produced her own shows, and works as a dancer and teacher for Esmeralda Enrique Flamenco Dance Company amongst others.
