Recreation Dance Instructor, Spryfield

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Recreation Dance Instructor leads dance programs for a variety of age groups. The instructor must plan, choreograph and teach dance classes to campers who may vary in their abilities and experience.

Other responsibilities include: daily duties such as greeting participants, leading activities, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants, organizing equipment and supplies, preparing for activities, distributing and collecting permission slips for outings, and participating in staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Current technical and practical training at an advanced level in one or more of the dance disciplines (ballet, breakdancing, jazz, tap, hip hop, modern, theatre, creative movement, and other forms of dance)
  • At least one season/summer of experience working or volunteering with preschoolers/children/youth in a recreational setting
  • At least one season/summer of demonstrated program leadership skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Healthy Child Development
  • Previous experience working with persons with disabilities an asset

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Current certification in Emergency First Aid and Level C CPR an asset
  • Successful completion of all training requirements (Including High Five and WHMIS) prior to start date
  • Screening through the Child Abuse Registry and a Police Records Check

WORK STATUS: Seasonal - Fall 2017, Winter 201

HOURS of WORK: Saturdays

Ballet                              Ages 3-5            12:30-1:15pm    
Intro to Dance                Ages 3-4            1:15-2:00pm      
Hip Hop/Jazz Dance     Ages 6-10          2:00-3:00pm      

SALARY:  Non Union, $11.50-$12.50 per hour(plus 4% vacation pay)
